The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved a significant increase in financial support for Jammu and Kashmir refugees, raising their monthly subsistence allowance by 70 percent from Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 6,000 per person.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad.

The revised support will take effect from February 1, 2026.

Alongside the increase, the ECC also approved a Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) of Rs. 578.838 million to cover expenditures up to June 30, 2026. The adjustment aims to provide better financial relief to registered Kashmir refugees amid rising living costs.

The committee directed the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan to include future funding requirements in the upcoming budget cycle to ensure continuity of support.
