Islamabad Traffic Police has intensified its crackdown against lane violations and other traffic law breaches across the federal capital following directives issued by Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk.
According to the traffic police, authorities inspected 11,570 motorcyclists during the enforcement campaign and took legal action against more than 8,000 riders for violating lane discipline and other traffic regulations.
Officials also impounded 4,181 motorcycles at different police stations over serious violations, while formal cases were registered against 269 riders.
Commenting on the operation, CTO Muhammad Sarfraz Virk said violations such as improper lane changing, one-wheeling and riding without helmets were major causes of road accidents and posed serious risks to public safety.
He said the Islamabad Traffic Police was continuing indiscriminate action against violators while also focusing on public awareness to encourage safer driving practices. The CTO urged citizens to follow traffic laws, maintain proper lane discipline and cooperate with authorities to help ensure safer roads in the capital.
