Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar today said Pakistan will become an economic power and warned that the country would respond strongly to any external threat.

Speaking to reporters after a ceremony at Data Darbar in Lahore, Dar said, “We will make Pakistan an economic power. If anyone looks at Pakistan with bad intentions, we will take out their eyes.”

He also said Pakistan played a mediation role during the recent tensions between the United States and Iran and thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their efforts.

Dar said Pakistan facilitated communication between Washington and Tehran and helped bring the two sides to the negotiating table after decades without direct engagement. He described Pakistan’s role as that of a facilitator.

The foreign minister said Pakistan follows the UN Charter, supports peace, and respects the sovereignty of all countries regardless of their size.

Referring to the US-Iran war, Dar said Pakistan condemned the attack on Iran immediately and maintained its position in support of regional peace.

Commenting on the federal budget, Dar said the government had provided relief to salaried individuals and businesses. He added that the current administration inherited a struggling economy but had succeeded in stabilizing it.
