Saudi Airlines has opened its office in Peshawar to improve travel services for passengers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and people traveling to Saudi Arabia for work.

The office was inaugurated on Tuesday by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmed Al-Malkiy.

The ceremony was attended by the Saudi country director, officials from the Saudi embassy, travel agents, and members of the business community.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kundi said the new office would provide better travel services to people of the province. He said a large number of residents from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa travel to Saudi Arabia every year for pilgrimage and employment.

The governor also urged Saudi Arabia to launch direct flights from Peshawar to Jeddah, Madinah, and Riyadh, saying these routes had become a major need for the people of the province.

He further requested the Saudi envoy to help establish a Saudi consulate in Peshawar to make visa and consular services easier for residents.

Kundi said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share historic and brotherly relations based on mutual trust and cooperation. He added that stronger business-to-business contacts could further boost economic cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, Ambassador Al-Malkiy visited the Governor’s House, where both sides discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.

The governor briefed him on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s mineral, oil and gas resources, hydropower potential, and Peshawar’s historical importance as the cradle of the ancient Gandhara civilization.

Ambassador Al-Malkiy appreciated the hospitality extended to him and said Saudi Arabia values its longstanding friendship with Pakistan.

He also recorded his remarks in the visitors’ book, while Governor Kundi presented him with a traditional handcrafted wooden souvenir from Dera Ismail Khan.
