A mother of three was critically injured after her husband allegedly tortured and shot her following a dispute over curd worth Rs. 100, police and the victim said.

The woman was taken to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi, where she is receiving treatment for bullet wounds and other injuries. Her condition was reported to be critical.

The victim is a resident of Dhok Kala Khan in Rawalpindi and is married to Ashfaq Ahmed, a resident of the Faqirabad area of Khanpur.

According to the victim, the dispute began after she ordered curd worth Rs. 100. She alleged that her husband severely assaulted her before opening fire on her.

Visible marks of physical violence and bullet wounds were present on her body.

She also alleged that she had been subjected to violence by her in-laws. She appealed to senior authorities to ensure the arrest and prosecution of everyone responsible for the attack.

Khanpur police said Ahmed fled the scene following the incident. Police have registered a case and is conducting raids to arrest the suspect.

Authorities said an investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether any other family members were involved.
