Hisense has introduced the GX Ultra, a new 27-inch gaming monitor with a dual-mode Mini LED display that stands out for its unusual resolution and the ability to hit high brightness levels.
The Hisense GX Ultra uses a glass-based Mini LED panel with 2,304 local dimming zones. Hisense said the monitor uses its Obsidian Display technology along with a zero optical distance backlight design that places LEDs closer to the LCD layer to improve contrast and reduce light bleed.
The display reaches up to 2,000 nits peak brightness in XDR mode and covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. It also uses 16-bit DC dimming to help reduce screen flickering. The monitor supports two operating modes. In its standard mode, it delivers a 5120 x 2880 resolution at a 180Hz refresh rate.
Users can also switch to a 2560 x 1440 resolution mode that increases the refresh rate to 330Hz for competitive gaming.
For gaming performance, the monitor offers a 1ms gray-to-gray response time, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support, and Black Frame Insertion technology to reduce motion blur.
The GX Ultra includes a low reflection coating that Hisense claims lowers surface reflectivity to 1.8% to reduce glare in bright environments.
The monitor also features an ambient light sensor for automatic brightness adjustment and viewing angle compensation technology designed to maintain color accuracy from different angles.
The display comes in a white finish and measures 1.7cm at its thinnest point. Its stand supports tilt and rotation adjustments while maintaining a relatively compact desk footprint.
Connectivity options include HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C with DisplayPort Alt mode and 90W power delivery for laptop charging through a single cable. The monitor also includes a built in KVM switch and dual speakers.
The monitor is currently available in China for roughly $1,030.
