Higher Education Commission (HEC) has increased the degree attestation fee from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 3,000 under its newly launched online attestation system.
The revised fee structure comes as HEC transitions toward a fully digital and paperless degree attestation process across Pakistan. HEC Chairman Niaz Ahmad Akhtar confirmed the increase and said part of the fee collected from applicants would be transferred to universities for document verification services.
According to the chairman, the new online system allows students to submit attestation applications digitally without physically visiting HEC offices or sending original academic documents through courier services.
Dr Akhtar said the revised system would reduce travel and accommodation expenses previously faced by students, particularly those coming from remote areas.
He added that applicants earlier had to separately pay for university verification, photocopies, transport, and accommodation before completing the attestation process. Under the new mechanism, HEC said applicants can now complete the entire process online while receiving digitally verifiable e attestation certificates.
