The Directorate of Health Services has said Islamabad has reported only two confirmed dengue cases so far, while health teams continue surveillance and awareness activities across the capital.
DG Health Services MCI/CDA Dr. Irshad Ali Jokhio said both patients came from outside Islamabad. He said around 1,000 staff members are conducting door-to-door surveillance and educating residents about dengue prevention.
Jokhio urged residents to cooperate with health teams and rejected reports that authorities register FIRs against homeowners when teams find dengue larvae.
He said health teams remove larvae during their first visit and advise homeowners to prevent stagnant water from accumulating. The teams have removed 4,000 larvae from Islamabad within 15 days, according to Jokhio.
He explained that teams return to homes after 15 days to check whether residents have taken preventive measures. If teams find larvae again, they ask homeowners to remove stagnant water and take corrective measures.
Jokhio said authorities issue notices after a third visit if homeowners continue to violate dengue prevention standard operating procedures. He said the chief commissioner, deputy commissioner and other relevant officials directly monitor the dengue campaign.
Jokhio stressed that authorities do not take action against residents during initial inspections and only act when homeowners repeatedly violate the prescribed procedures. He urged citizens to cooperate with health teams and said public support remains essential to controlling dengue in the capital.
