A government primary school in Chiniot has come under scrutiny after reports emerged that classroom fans were allegedly switched off to save on electricity costs, forcing students to study in severe heat.

The incident was reported from Government Primary School in Chak 131 Lonewala, where students were allegedly made to sit through classes without fans despite the rising temperatures.

According to reports, school staff told students that the fans had been turned off because the electricity bill had become too high.

As a result, children were left to study in overheated classrooms, sparking concern over the conditions they were being forced to endure.

Students said they were being made to attend lessons in extreme heat without proper ventilation, affecting both their comfort and their ability to focus in class.

The matter drew wider attention after a video linked to the incident began circulating on social media, prompting public concern over the treatment of young students.

Education authorities have since said that the school has already been outsourced, and action is now being considered against the school operator. Officials said a letter is being sent to the Punjab Education Foundation to initiate proceedings against the owner over the issue.
