Garmin has officially launched the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro, bringing brighter displays, upgraded navigation, new fitness features, and longer battery life to its flagship multisport smartwatch lineup.

The standard Fenix 9 uses a fiber-reinforced polymer case with a titanium rear cover, along with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

Its AMOLED display is twice as bright as the Fenix 8, while Garmin has also added leak-proof buttons and a 40-meter dive rating.

The Fenix 9 comes in 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm sizes.

The Fenix 9 Pro takes things further with the first full titanium case ever used on a Fenix smartwatch. Garmin uses a nano-molding process to combine metal and plastic while reducing overall thickness and weight.

Its AMOLED display reaches up to 3,000 nits of brightness. The 51mm Pro also gets a 1.5-inch AMOLED screen, the largest display ever fitted to a Fenix watch and around 15% larger than the Fenix 8 display without increasing the case size.

Garmin has equipped the Fenix 9 with 50% more RAM than the Fenix 8 and an upgraded mapping engine that enables up to 30% faster map panning.

Storage has doubled to 64GB, providing room for more maps and up to 7,000 songs.

A new Garmin Epic feature lets users combine activities recorded over several days, weeks, or months into a single story. Health and performance data can be combined with photos and shared through Garmin Connect.

Garmin has also upgraded stamina tracking with stamina zones and a stamina curve, while indoor rowing now provides additional metrics such as VO2 Max and power curves.

Rucking support has also been expanded, including the ability to change pack weight during an activity, follow GORUCK workouts, and set targets with pack weights of up to 100kg.

Selected Fenix 9 Pro models feature inReach satellite and LTE connectivity, allowing users to communicate without relying on a connected smartphone.

Supported features include two-way messaging, voice communication, LiveTrack notifications, and Garmin Locate, which allows approved contacts to see the user’s location through Garmin Messenger.

Users can also receive location-specific weather forecasts directly on the watch.

In an emergency, supported models can send an interactive SOS request to the Garmin Response coordination center, which operates 24/7.

Garmin also added a green-light mode to the built-in LED flashlight to help preserve night vision.

The largest Fenix 9 can last up to 29 days in smartwatch mode, while the 51mm Fenix 9 Pro AMOLED increases that figure to as much as 31 days.

Selected Pro models are also available with solar-charging displays instead of AMOLED. These versions can deliver up to 57 days of battery life under Garmin’s specified solar conditions.

The Garmin Fenix 9 starts at $999.99, while the Fenix 9 Pro starts at $1,099.99. Both are offered in 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm sizes, with availability varying by configuration and market.
