Karachi Police have arrested 10 suspects, including five police personnel, during an operation in Bin Qasim Town over the alleged theft of valuable metals from Pakistan Steel Mills.

According to police, the arrested suspects include police constables Irfan Shah, Saadullah, Muneeb, Rehmat and Muhammad Ali. The other suspects were identified as Abdul Kareem, Mashooq Ali, Saddam Hussain, Javed and Qazi Tahir.

Police said they recovered 30 kilograms of stolen copper, three motorcycles and mobile phones from the suspects.

Initial investigations showed that the arrested suspects were allegedly working for notorious thief Roshan Marri.

Police said constable Irfan Shah allegedly helped thieves enter Pakistan Steel Mills with Roshan Marri’s support. The other four police personnel allegedly received the stolen material and delivered it to Irfan Shah.

According to police, Irfan Shah and Roshan Marri later sold the stolen items to scrap dealer Ali and other buyers.

Police said four of the arrested police personnel were posted in Bin Qasim, while one was serving at 15 Madadgar Bin Qasim.

A case has been registered against the suspects under relevant sections of the law. Police have also started further investigation into the theft network.
