Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested nine individuals, including a urologist and a private hospital employee, over their alleged involvement in illegal kidney transplantation and organ trafficking in Islamabad.

According to FIA officials, the arrests were made during a raid at a private hospital where illegal kidney removal operations were allegedly being conducted. Officials described the doctor and hospital employee as key members of the network.

Several other individuals present at the site, including alleged donors, recipients, and hospital staff, were also taken into custody for questioning and shifted to the FIA office.

The operation was carried out under the direction of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, FIA Director General Usman Anwar, and FIA Islamabad Zone Director Syed Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari.

According to the FIA, the investigation is linked to a wider organ trafficking network allegedly targeting financially vulnerable individuals from southern Punjab, including Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan.

Officials said the suspects allegedly persuaded poor individuals to sell kidneys for small amounts before selling the organs at significantly higher prices. The FIA added that the investigation had been expanded and further raids were underway to arrest additional suspects linked to the network.
