The federal government has refused to restore gas supply to CNG stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to official sources.

Sources said provincial Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam contacted Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik by phone and later briefed the chief minister on the response received from the center.

During the conversation, Muzammil Aslam reportedly told the federal government that the closure of CNG stations was creating serious difficulties for the public in the province.

In response, Ali Pervaiz Malik is said to have told him that the country is facing a gas shortage. He reportedly added that the matter of providing additional gas could be considered after the import of LNG.

The development means there is no immediate relief for CNG stations in KP, where the continued suspension of gas supply is already affecting commuters and transport-related activity.
