The Faisalabad divisional administration has announced plans to launch a digital public transport system featuring a mobile app with real-time vehicle tracking and an electric vehicle (EV) battery-swapping network to modernize urban transport.
Commissioner Faisalabad and President of the Faisalabad Urban Transport Society (FUTS) Imran Hamid Sheikh said the Faisalabad Public Transport App will bring government and private public transport services across the division’s four districts onto a single digital platform.
The app will allow passengers to track government buses, metro buses, electric buses, and registered urban Hiace vehicles in real time. It will also provide route planning, enabling commuters to find the best routes, transfer points, and estimated arrival times.
Sheikh said the app will be available free of charge and will support the digital registration of public transport vehicles through integration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).
He added that transport operator registrations are expected to begin within the next 15 days to one month before the app’s official launch. The commissioner said the initiative will be the first integrated digital public transport platform in Faisalabad and could become the first of its kind in Punjab and Pakistan.
