The Balochistan government has allocated Rs. 144 billion for the Education Department in the 2026-27 budget, marking a 15 percent increase compared to the previous fiscal year.
According to the budget document, Rs. 115 billion of the total allocation has been earmarked for school education.
The provincial government has also allocated Rs. 8 billion for the upgradation of schools across Balochistan. Under the initiative, primary schools will be upgraded to middle schools, while middle schools will be upgraded to high schools.
In addition, 3,000 new positions will be created in the Education Department as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the sector. The cluster budget has also been increased from Rs. 2.5 billion to Rs. 2.9 billion.
During the budget speech, the government described education as a top priority and said measures were being taken to improve the quality of education and expand opportunities across the province.
