Blackmagic Design has released the final version of DaVinci Resolve 21, bringing one of the largest updates in the software’s history.

The new version adds a dedicated Photo page for still image editing, new AI-powered tools, major workflow upgrades for editing, color grading, audio and visual effects, and broader support for camera formats and codecs.

The update follows a long public beta period and brings hundreds of new features to both the free and Studio versions of DaVinci Resolve.

The biggest addition in DaVinci Resolve 21 is the new Photo page, which expands the software beyond video editing to include still-image workflows.

Photographers can now import, organize, edit, and export photos directly inside Resolve. The Photo page includes album management, ratings, favorites, tagging, and collection support, giving users a dedicated space for image editing.

Blackmagic has also added native RAW support for major camera brands, Lightroom catalog importing, Apple Photos integration on Mac, OS, and GPU-accelerated batch exports.

The new Photo page lets users apply Resolve’s node-based grading workflow to still images. This includes curves, qualifiers, power windows, LUTs, ResolveFX effects, and grading panels for detailed image adjustments.

DaVinci Resolve 21 also adds severalAI-poweredd features designed to speed up common editing and post-production tasks.

The update introduces IntelliSearch, which helps users find clips and content inside projects more quickly. It also adds CineFocus, an AI-assisted tool that can adjust focal emphasis after footage has been captured.

Other AI features focus on facial refinement and portrait adjustments, giving creators more tools to improve subjects without leaving Resolve.

Editors get several workflow upgrades across the Cut and Edit pages.

The keyframing system now includes four-point Bézier controls, advanced easing options, looping tools, reverse animation, and multiple clip selections.

Users can keyframe effects, text elements, generators, and Fusion compositions directly from the editing interface.

DaVinci Resolve 21 also adds support for native Lottie animations and OGraf HTML graphics. New font browsing tools, live font previews, spell checking, emoji suppo, rt and color fonts make text work more flexible.

Other additions include multicam workflow improvements, timeline comparison tools, enhanced subtitle management, improved track visibility controls, and expanded replay features for live production environments.

The Fusion page receives a major motion graphics update with the addition of the Krokodove toolset.

More than 100 new motion graphics effects and tools have been added, including over 70 Krokodove graphics for creating complex animations and visual effects.

A new Macro Editor makes it easier to build reusable tools and publish them directly to the Edit page.

The update also brings improved MultiText controls, better USD support, native relief map creation, and audio-driven animation features.

Colorists get layer list node graph views, support for up to eight layer node stacks, improved ACES workflows, Adobe RGB color space support, and enhanced HDR monitoring controls.

Group grading workflows have also been improved with support for grade versions, making collaborative color work easier to manage.

Fairlight adds folder tracks, allowing audio teams to collapse and expand groups of tracks in larger mixes.

DaVinci Resolve 21 adds native decoding support for Canon CR3, Panasonic Lumix RW2, Fujifilm RA, F, a nd Apple ProRAW files.

The update also adds support for compressed Sony ARW files from the Sony a7 V and newer cameras.

Blackmagic has also improved Nikon NEF handling, expanded HDR image support for common still image formats, and added compatibility for Sony Burano Version 3 footage.

These additions are especially useful for photographers and hybrid creators using the new Photo page.

The update also improves project management and collaboration. Users can now search project settings and preferences directly. Media pools now support tabbed layouts and improved metadata handling.

Blackmagic Cloud synchronization is up to three times faster than in previous versions.

Multi-user projects now support dynamic project switching, while users can import and export Final Cut Pro 12 XML files for better compatibility with other editing environments.

DaVinci Resolve 21 is available now as a free download from Blackmagic Design.

DaVinci Resolve 21 Studio costs $295 and includes additional AI features, editing beyond 4K resolution, and full-resolution photo exports.
