Adobe has launched a new plugin that brings more than 70 tools from its Creative Cloud apps directly into ChatGPT, allowing users to edit images, create PDFs and produce short videos without opening Adobe’s desktop applications.

Called Adobe for ChatGPT, the plugin combines tools from Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, Acrobat and other Adobe applications in a single chat interface. Users can activate it by typing @Adobe into ChatGPT’s text field.

Adobe launched the plugin on August 6, 2026. The company says it is designed to provide a quicker way to handle everyday creative tasks, while its traditional desktop applications remain the better option for detailed and complex work.

The plugin brings features from Adobe Express, Photoshop, Firefly, Premiere, Acrobat, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Stock into ChatGPT.

After activating the plugin, users can describe what they want to do in natural language. For example, they can ask ChatGPT to create a PDF table from raw data or turn a longer video into a 30-second clip for Instagram.

ChatGPT then selects the relevant Adobe tool and carries out the requested task on the server side. Users do not need a dedicated graphics card or the corresponding Adobe desktop application installed on their computer.

The plugin can handle tasks such as batch image processing with a consistent color style, format conversion, turning longer videos into shorter social media clips, and creating PDF documents from raw data and spreadsheets.

Users who sign in with their Creative Cloud account can save projects between sessions and access Adobe’s Firefly generative AI models.

The plugin combines tools from several major Adobe applications, with each one focused on different types of creative work.

Adobe is making the basic version available without requiring users to have an Adobe account. However, users without an account receive a more limited version of the plugin.

Access to the full range of tools requires an existing Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. The number of generations available each month also depends on the user’s ChatGPT plan.

Adobe does not present the plugin as a replacement for its professional applications.

Forest Key, who oversees Firefly and agent-based AI features at Adobe, said the plugin is intended as a quick way to handle tasks where precise control is not essential.

Users who need pixel-level accuracy or have to manage complex creative workflows will still need applications such as Photoshop or Premiere.

The ChatGPT integration reflects Adobe’s push to make its creative tools available through conversational AI platforms.

The company has already announced plans for similar plugins for Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Slack and Google Gemini.

The approach allows users to access selected functions through natural-language instructions instead of opening individual creative applications and working through their interfaces.

For now, Adobe continues to position the ChatGPT plugin as an additional way to access Creative Cloud features rather than a replacement for its standalone software.

Photoshop, Premiere, and Illustrator will continue to operate as desktop applications for users who need more detailed control over their creative work.
