The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has received design submissions from three international companies for the construction of a new convention center in Islamabad, while the evaluation process is currently underway.

Officials informed a high-level meeting that legal requirements for the project are being completed and construction work is expected to begin during the last week of June.

The meeting was chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State Talal Chaudhry to review ongoing and upcoming development projects in the federal capital.

Senior officials, including the Interior Secretary, CDA Chairman, Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, and other officers, attended the session and received detailed briefings on multiple infrastructure initiatives.

During the meeting, authorities also decided to install sewage treatment plants on streams flowing into Rawal Dam in order to protect the reservoir from contaminated water. Different proposals regarding the installation of sewage treatment plants were reviewed.

Mohsin Naqvi said the project would help ensure the supply of clean water to residents of Islamabad.

The interior minister directed authorities to continue operations against land mafias and illegal constructions across Islamabad, stating that the campaign would continue without pressure until logical results are achieved.

He also instructed officials to complete development work on the new block of Parliament Lodges by June 30.

Officials further briefed the meeting on the upgradation plan for the Capital Police College, under which new classrooms, a mess facility, and barracks for trainee personnel will be constructed. Progress on 11 newly constructed police stations in Islamabad was also reviewed during the session.
