Crime Control Department (CCD) Punjab has fallen into severe financial difficulties within its very first year of establishment, with officers yet to receive their bonus payments or cost of investigation funds, sources revealed.
According to City42, CCD authorities had assured officers they would receive bonus money before Eid-ul-Fitr, but payments have not been made to date. Funds for police encounters and high-profile case investigations have also not been released, even though the investigation of 13 serious crimes, including murder and robbery, falls under CCD’s jurisdiction.
Despite multiple cases being transferred to CCD, officers are not receiving cost-of-investigation allowances. This has forced personnel to bear investigation expenses out of their own pockets. The report indicates that due to delays in bonus payments and ongoing financial difficulties, several officers are now requesting transfers back to district police and leaving CCD.
The financial crisis is raising concerns about the department’s operational capacity, as officers investigating serious crimes are unable to access essential resources while shouldering personal financial burdens.
