The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has withdrawn the No Objection Certificate (NOC) previously granted to experienced pacer Mustafizur Rahman, ruling him out of the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).
Rahman, who was signed directly by Lahore Qalandars for the ongoing tournament, had featured in five matches before departing for international duty.
He joined the Bangladesh national squad for a three-match One Day International (ODI) series against New Zealand national cricket team, which concluded earlier on Thursday.
Initially, Rahman was expected to return to the Lahore Qalandars squad after the New Zealand series, with availability scheduled through May 3. However, the situation changed following a medical review.
In an official statement, the BCB said its medical panel assessed Rahman’s condition after the third ODI and decided further evaluation was necessary.
“The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) wishes to inform that, following the conclusion of the 3rd ODI against New Zealand, the team’s medical staff has reviewed the condition of national team pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman,” the statement said.
“It has been decided that the player will undergo an immediate scan to further assess his condition, after which he will commence a rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the BCB Medical Team.”
While the board did not disclose details about the nature or severity of the injury, it confirmed that Rahman will not take part in the remainder of PSL 2026.
“In this regard, the Board has withdrawn the No Objection Certificate (NOC) previously issued to Mustafizur. He will therefore not be available to participate in the remainder of PSL 2026,” the statement added.
In a related development, the BCB also confirmed that fast bowler Nahid Rana will not be released for PSL 2026. Rana had been associated with Peshawar Zalmi during the tournament.
According to the board, this decision was made to allow Rana sufficient preparation time for Bangladesh’s upcoming home Test series against Pakistan national cricket team, scheduled for next month.
