The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed a 15-member squad for the first Test against the Pakistan national cricket team, set to begin on May 8 at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium as part of the 2025–27 ICC World Test Championship.
Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue as captain, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz named as his deputy for the series opener.
The squad includes two uncapped players, Tanzid Hasan and Amite Hasan.
Tanzid Hasan has already built a strong record in white-ball cricket, featuring in 34 ODIs and 45 T20Is for Bangladesh. He has scored more than 1,900 runs across both formats and will now aim to secure a place in the Test side.
Amite Hasan, a 24-year-old middle-order batter, receives his first call-up following consistent performances in domestic cricket. He has maintained an average of 49 in First-Class matches since his debut in 2019.
Fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam return to the Test squad after last appearing in late 2024. Spinner Nayeem Hasan also makes his return to the red-ball format.
Bangladesh currently sit eighth in the World Test Championship standings, having recorded one defeat and one draw from two matches. They have collected four points with a win percentage of 16.67.
Pakistan, meanwhile, are placed fifth after one win and one loss from two matches. They have accumulated 12 points with a win percentage of 50.
