Apple is reportedly targeting a late 2027 launch for its first smart glasses, pushing the product later than earlier expectations.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurma n reported that the device, code-named N50, had previously been expected to arrive earlier, with a possible reveal by the end of 2026 and shipments starting in early 2027.

The first model is expected to focus on smart features rather than full augmented reality. The glasses will reportedly include built-in cameras for photos and videos, along with speakers and microphones for music, calls, and Siri-based notifications.

The device may also support turn-by-turn walking directions and deeper iPhone integration for editing, sharing, and daily use.

Apple is reportedly testing several frame styles for the product. These include larger rectangular frames, slimmer rectangular frames, larger oval or circular frames, and smaller oval or circular options.

The company is also said to be exploring multiple colors, including black, ocean blue, and light brown. Reports suggest the glasses may use vertically oriented oval camera lenses.

Apple’s first smart glasses are not expected to include an in-lens augmented reality display. That feature is reportedly still several years away.

Over time, Apple may expand the glasses into a health-focused device and later add augmented reality features that could help improve how users see the world around them.

The glasses are expected to compete with Ray Ban Meta smart glasses and other mainstream eyewear products. Reports suggest Apple is looking at the $200 to $500 price range in the US eyewear market.

If the current timeline holds, Apple’s first smart glasses would arrive years after Meta entered the category, but with a stronger focus on Apple’s ecosystem, Siri, and iPhone connectivity.
