American Lycetuff School (ALS) DNK in Lahore has come under fire for allegedly compelling students to attend classes despite the Punjab government’s directive ordering all public and private educational institutions to remain closed from May 22 to August 24 due to a severe heatwave across the province.

A student at the school’s DNK branch reached out to confirm that the administration was pressuring students to continue attending regular classes even after the official start of summer vacations.

The Punjab government announced the extended summer break on May 22, citing warnings from the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) about prolonged above-normal temperatures across the province from May through July.

The directive applies to all schools, public and private, without exception.

Despite this, several private institutions in Lahore appear to be flouting the government order in an effort to maintain academic schedules and continue fee collection.

ALS DNK is not the only school in Lahore under scrutiny for defying the Punjab government’s summer vacation order.

Earlier this week, Lahore Grammar School (LGS) was exposed by students for instructing Grade XI students at its Senior Boys branch in Johar Town to attend regular classes until June 10, with the school planning to reopen on August 5, nearly three weeks before the government’s mandated reopening date of August 24.

Keynesian Institute of Management & Sciences (KIMS), also based in Lahore, is facing similar accusations from students who claim the school has been conducting examinations during the holiday period.
