US President Donald Trump earlier today said the chances of reaching a peace agreement with Iran are currently 50/50.

Trump said there is an equal possibility of securing what he described as a “good” agreement with Iran or deciding to “blow them to kingdom come”, several prominent news agencies in the region reported a short while ago.

Trump said he would hold meetings later in the day with senior advisers, including envoy Steve Witkoff, senior adviser Jared Kushner, and Vice President JD Vance, to discuss the future of negotiations with Tehran.

“I think one of two things will happen: either I hit them harder than they have ever been hit, or we are going to sign a deal that is good,” Trump said.

He added that divisions remain within political and security circles over whether Washington should continue diplomacy or return to military action.

“Some people would much rather have a deal and others would rather resume the war,” Trump said, while dismissing suggestions that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is concerned about the possibility of a US-Iran agreement.

The latest peace proposal includes a process to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the unfreezing of some Iranian assets, and a continuation of negotiations.

The ceasefire may get extended by 60 days, some agencies reported without any additional info.

More details will be revealed shortly.
