Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Sohail Afridi launched a Rs. 1 billion project to upgrade 34 existing public parks across Peshawar under the Peshawar Revitalization Plan.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held at Shahi Bagh, where the chief minister said the initiative reflects the provincial government’s long-term vision for inclusive urban development.
He said construction and rehabilitation work had started simultaneously at all 34 parks and would be completed according to the approved timeline.
The project has been divided into five execution packages to ensure efficient implementation and timely completion. The work will include landscaping, recreational facilities, public amenities, and improved accessibility.
CM Afridi praised the Peshawar Development Authority, the Local Government Department, and other implementing agencies for their coordinated efforts.
He said the provincial government was carrying out development projects worth around Rs. 200 billion under the Peshawar Revitalization Plan. These projects are aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure, transport connectivity, and public services.
The chief minister also announced that the Urban Train Project had been included in the Annual Development Program and would be launched in the near future.
According to him, the project will provide residents with a modern, efficient, and sustainable public transport system.
He added that the proposed Outer Ring Road had also been included in the ADP to address rising traffic pressure and the city’s continued expansion.
CM Afridi said the feasibility study for the road project was in its final stages and construction would begin after the completion of the required technical processes.
