Following the PIMS tragedy, it has emerged that fire safety arrangements in three major government hospitals in Rawalpindi remain incomplete.
Sources said Benazir Bhutto Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital and Holy Family Hospital do not yet have fully functional essential safety systems.
They added that some necessary fire protection measures are still not in place, while emergency exits in the hospitals are also obstructed in some places.
Sources further said that hydrants have been installed in the allied hospitals, but smoke alarms are still missing.
After the PIMS incident, hospital administrations have been directed to immediately activate fire alarms, emergency exits and smoke detection systems.
Officials have also instructed that paediatric and gynaecology wards be made 100% safe on a priority basis.
Authorities emphasized the need to complete fire safety arrangements and take all necessary steps to handle any emergency.
