Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered an immediate safety audit of school buildings located in densely populated areas across the province.
هغې چارواکو ته لارښوونه وکړه چې د احتمالي خطرونو لپاره جوړښتونه معاینه کړي او د ساختماني معیارونو سره مطابقت تضمین کړي.
She also instructed officials to take strict legal action against those responsible for negligence or substandard construction and to submit a detailed report on the condition of school buildings.
The directive follows a deadly roof collapse at a private school in Lahore, where an eight-year-old boy was killed and several others were injured when a portion of an under-construction building gave way in Baghbanpura. The school was reportedly holding a summer camp at the time of the incident.
According to Rescue 1122, construction work was underway on the top floor of the three-story building when part of the structure collapsed.
CM Maryam Nawaz expressed grief over the child’s death and offered condolences to the bereaved family. She sought a report from the Lahore commissioner and the director general of Rescue 1122.
The chief minister also directed authorities to provide the best available treatment to the injured and praised Rescue 1122 for rescuing more than 10 children from the debris.
