Xiaomi has announced the Mijia Smart Bathroom Heater P1 Human Sensing Edition in China, adding a new ceiling-mounted device to its smart home lineup.

The unit combines bathroom lighting, heating, and exhaust functions in one product. Its main feature is a built-in 24GHz radar system that detects whether someone is inside the bathroom and adjusts the hardware automatically. The device will enter crowdfunding in China next week at around $148. Xiaomi has not announced any global release plans.

Most smart bathroom lights rely on infrared motion sensors, which can fail if someone stays still for too long.

Xiaomi is using a 24GHz radar sensor instead. The system is designed to detect continuous human presence, allowing the unit to turn on the light when a user enters, keep the exhaust fan running while the bathroom is in use, and switch everything off after the person leaves.

The detection range and sensitivity can also be adjusted. This should help prevent false triggers when someone simply walks past an open bathroom door.

The Mijia Smart Bathroom Heater P1 Human Sensing Edition uses a 3,000W graphene heating element.

It also has a variable frequency control system that adjusts the power output to maintain a selected temperature instead of running at full power all the time. Xiaomi’s previous Mijia Smart Bathroom Heater P1 also used a 3,000W graphene heating setup and was marketed for rapid bathroom heating.

To distribute warm air, the unit includes an oscillating louver that swings between 60 and 90 degrees and pushes heat downward toward the floor.

The device uses dual DC motors, allowing it to heat the bathroom and run the exhaust fan at the same time.

The exhaust system is rated to move around 259 cubic meters of air per hour. This should help remove moisture and odors while the heater is still operating.

The bathroom heater also includes a retractable ceiling light panel.

The light sits flush with the ceiling and can output up to 1,500 lumens. It supports adjustable color temperatures from 3,000K to 6,200K and includes a night light mode for late-night use.

The heater connects with the Mi Home app and Xiaomi’s HyperOS ecosystem.

Users can set schedules, control the device through the app, and use voice controls. Xiaomi also includes an IPX4-rated water-resistant wireless wall switch in the package. The switch fits into a standard 86mm electrical box, so users can add a physical control point without running new wiring through the wall.

The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Bathroom Heater P1 Human Sensing Edition will enter crowdfunding in China next week.

The crowdfunding price is  about $148. Xiaomi has not said whether the device will launch outside China.
