The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has temporarily suspended water supply to four union councils in Lyari Town after a leak developed in a 24-inch diameter water transmission line serving the area.

According to a KWSC spokesperson, engineering and technical teams were dispatched immediately after the fault was reported. Repair work began on an emergency basis after the damaged section of the pipeline was identified.

The utility said the repairs are expected to be completed within 36 to 48 hours, after which water supply to the affected areas will be restored in phases.

The disruption is limited to Union Councils 9, 10, 11, and 12, while water supply to the rest of Lyari Town continues as normal, the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, the Water Corporation has also launched action against consumers with outstanding bills. During the operation, KWSC teams blocked connections and sealed the premises of several commercial and industrial establishments.

In Landhi Town’s Sector 28, authorities disconnected water connections of multiple commercial and industrial defaulters. Officials said the businesses owe more than Rs. 40 million in unpaid charges.
