The United States and Iran have agreed to extend their ceasefire before the expiry of the 60-day deadline set under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, Turkish state media agency reported a short while ago.
The extension is being viewed as a significant diplomatic development, preserving the truce reached after weeks of tensions and helping maintain regional stability.
Pakistan has remained actively engaged with both countries since the agreement was reached. In recent weeks, senior Pakistani officials have maintained diplomatic contacts with Washington and Tehran to encourage the continuation of the ceasefire and prevent a renewed escalation.
Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Tehran to convey a special message from the Government of Pakistan to the Iranian leadership.
The reported extension of the ceasefire comes just before the original deadline was due to expire, providing additional time for diplomatic efforts aimed at building a more durable understanding between the United States and Iran.
Neither Washington nor Tehran has officially commented on the reported extension.
