The UAE National Media Authority (NMA) has taken legal action against a female resident over a social media post that it said insulted Emirati women. The authority has also suspended her advertiser permit for three months.
According to the NMA, the woman shared the content through her account on a social media platform. The post broke the country’s media content rules under the Media Regulation Law and its related regulations.
The authority did not reveal the woman’s name or the social media platform where the content was posted. It also did not share further details about the legal action.
The NMA said it would not accept any content that insults Emirati women or downplays their role and contributions to the country.
It also asked social media users and advertisers to post responsibly and respect the UAE’s social values and national identity.
