A Turkish-born American defense scientist has reported unusual underground findings at a boat-shaped formation in eastern Turkey that has long been linked to Prophet Noah’s Ark.
Dr. Khosrow Bakhtar surveyed the Durupınar Formation using BakhtarRadar, a subsurface imaging system based on EarthRadar technology originally developed for the US Air Force.
Preliminary scans detected multiple anomalies and distinct layers beneath the site. Researchers also said the available data has not yet revealed a clear bedrock boundary, suggesting the formation may be more complex than a uniform mass of solid rock.
The Durupınar Formation is around 515 feet (157 meters) long and bears a striking resemblance to a large ship. It has been associated with Noah’s Ark for decades, although geologists have generally maintained that it is a natural formation.
The latest findings have renewed interest in claims that the site could be connected to the Ark. However, the radar results do not confirm that an ancient vessel lies beneath the formation.
The research team has acknowledged that further investigation and physical evidence will be required before any definitive conclusion can be reached.
Dr. Bakhtar and his team now plan to conduct additional analysis and targeted core drilling to determine the nature of the material and structures detected below the surface.
The site also carries religious significance. The Quran states that Prophet Noah’s Ark came to rest on Al-Judi, although its exact geographical location has not been definitively established.
Local tradition also associates a peak in the Mount Tendürek area, where the Durupınar Formation is located, with the name Al-Judi.
Further physical investigation could help determine what lies beneath the site and whether its unusual shape and underground features have an archaeological explanation.
