Thunderstorms and heavy rain triggered widespread destruction in several parts of the country, leaving at least 17 people dead, scores injured, and major disruptions to power supply, traffic, and daily life.

The worst-hit areas were in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh, where strong winds, collapsing walls and roofs, falling trees, and lightning strikes caused multiple casualties. Rescue teams remained active in affected districts as authorities issued emergency alerts and began damage assessments.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority said two people were killed and 31 injured during the last 24 hours. The injured included eight children and seven women.

Bannu reported the highest number of incidents in the province, with one death and 28 injuries after roofs and walls collapsed due to strong winds and rain.

In Peshawar, one person died after being struck by lightning, while Nowshera reported one injury after an electric pole fell. In Charsadda, two people, including a child, were injured when a wall collapsed.

Rescue 1122 also reported injuries in Peshawar and nearby areas after trees, electric wires, walls, poles, and solar panels fell in different localities. Emergency workers cleared roads and shifted the seriously injured to hospitals.

Sindh suffered far greater losses, with dust storms and rain causing severe damage in several districts. Authorities said at least 15 people were killed and more than 100 injured in districts including Kashmore, Nawabshah, Qambar Shahdadkot, Dharki, and Ghotki.

Qazi Ahmed was among the worst-affected areas, where roofs, walls, and trees collapsed on homes, killing multiple people and injuring dozens. Major damage to electricity feeders, poles, and solar panels was also reported.

Storm damage was also reported from Punjab, Islamabad, and Azad Kashmir. In Rojhan, two people died after solar panels fell during a severe storm. In Rahim Yar Khan, one person was killed and five others injured when the roof of a mosque courtyard collapsed. A 14-year-old child also died after being struck by lightning in Mirpur.

The weather department has warned that the current spell may continue for two more days, while disaster management authorities have urged people to remain cautious, avoid fallen wires and weakened structures, and follow official advisories.
