Workers employed under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Suthra Punjab program staged a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Nankana over delayed salaries.
According to reports, sanitation workers, including women staff and supervisors, gathered at the site carrying brooms, shovels, and pails while demanding payment of pending wages before Eid.
The protesters said some workers had not received salaries for four months, while others had been waiting for two months.
The workers appealed to Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Tasleem Akhtar Rao to arrange immediate payment of salaries.
During the demonstration, workers raised slogans in support of Maryam Nawaz while highlighting their financial difficulties caused by the delay in payments.
The protest remained peaceful, and the workers later dispersed and returned to their duties.
