Punjab’s Anti-Corruption Establishment has allegedly arrested Suthra Punjab Operations Manager Abdullah Bajwa after a case was registered over corruption allegations said to exceed Rs. 1 billion.

According to sources, Bajwa and his associates have been booked following an inquiry into alleged financial irregularities in the sanitation project.

The inquiry reportedly found that payments were made after 2,317 containers were shown as deployed, while only 1,717 were allegedly present on the ground.

The FIR also alleged that attendance was marked for 633 ghost sanitary workers, who were shown as carrying out door-to-door work, allowing payments to be drawn from the public exchequer.

Investigators further claimed that only 33 waste enclosures were working instead of 118, while billing was allegedly made for the remaining 85 as well.

The case also includes allegations that bills were cleared for three temporary garbage collection points that were never actually set up.

According to the inquiry, the base value of machinery including tractors, loaders, front loaders, and tractor trolleys was allegedly understated through fraudulent means, causing losses to the government.

Officials also alleged that tracker data of vehicles used for waste collection was manipulated.

The case was reportedly registered after an inquiry conducted by a high-level team comprising senior anti-corruption officers, including the regional director, deputy directors, and assistant directors from headquarters and vigilance wings.
