Sui Southern Gas Company has announced a temporary gas shutdown schedule for several areas of Karachi due to pipeline work near the Nipa Flyover under the BRT project.
According to the company, lowering work on a 20-inch high-pressure gas pipeline will be carried out near the Nipa Flyover on the BRT route following a request from TransKarachi under Phase II of the project.
The gas utility said the work is scheduled to begin at 10pm on May 23 and continue until 5am on Sunday, although the timeline may be extended due to technical reasons. Repair and restoration activities may continue until 8am.
During the work, gas supply will remain temporarily suspended in several areas, including Liaquat National Hospital, Aga Khan University Hospital and Karachi Central Prison.
The company also warned of low gas pressure in SITE Industrial Area and surrounding localities, including all blocks of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, PIB Colony, Jamshed Road, Lines Area, PHS Society, Saddar, Kharadar, Lyari and Garden.
SSGC said consumers would be informed once the work is completed and gas supply is restored in affected areas. The company also apologized for the inconvenience caused during the operation.
