A state-of-the-art Space Gallery aimed at promoting space education, fostering scientific thinking, and creating greater public awareness about Pakistan’s achievements in space science and technology has been inaugurated at the Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH) on Wednesday.

Established by the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) in collaboration with the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), the gallery offers visitors an engaging and interactive journey into the world of space exploration.

Federal Secretary for the Ministry of Science and Technology, Shahid Iqbal Baloch, inaugurated the Space Gallery during a ceremony held at the museum on Tuesday.

Addressing the ceremony, the Federal Secretary appreciated SUPARCO’s efforts in establishing the Space Gallery and described the initiative as an important step towards promoting space education and enhancing public understanding of the growing importance of space science and technology.

He said the gallery would play a vital role in encouraging scientific thinking, research and innovation among the younger generation while inspiring students to pursue careers in science and emerging technologies.

He noted that creating awareness about space sciences is essential in today’s technology-driven world, as space technology has become an integral part of national development and sustainable progress.

The Space Gallery features a wide range of modern scientific models, interactive exhibits and digital displays, enabling visitors to explore the fascinating world of space engagingly. It introduces visitors to satellites, rocket technology, space exploration and Pakistan’s achievements in the peaceful exploration and utilization of outer space.

The gallery also showcases the country’s expanding space program and highlights the practical applications of space technology in everyday life. Through educational displays, visitors can learn how satellite-based technologies support disaster management, agriculture, environmental monitoring, weather forecasting, communication, navigation, resource management and socio-economic development.

Designed as an educational and recreational facility, the gallery seeks to strengthen public appreciation of scientific advancements while providing an enriching learning experience for people of all ages.

The Space Gallery has been opened to students, teachers, researchers, families, and the general public, offering a unique opportunity to understand space science and technology through modern, interactive exhibits while gaining insight into Pakistan’s peaceful space program and its contributions to national development.
