A private airline flight from Karachi to Skardu was hit by a bird during takeoff, causing serious damage to one of the aircraft’s engines.
According to the airline spokesperson, flight PK-455 was carrying 170 passengers when the bird struck the Airbus A320 during takeoff.
The spokesperson said engine number two suffered serious damage in the incident, and the engine blades were broken. After the damage was reported, the aircraft was declared unfit for further flight.
All 170 passengers were safely moved to the airport lounge. The airline said arrangements are being made for alternate travel.
Technical inspection and repair work on the aircraft is underway, while the nature of the incident is also being reviewed.
