Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon announced on Tuesday that the provincial government will provide mini solar kits to 275,000 low-income families under a Rs18.20 billion energy project launched on the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The scheme will benefit 132,000 families from off-grid areas and 143,000 families from grid-connected areas, prioritising low-income households and residents of far-flung regions across Sindh.

Each entitled family will receive a 180-watt solar panel, batteries, fans, and bulbs under the program.

The government has already distributed solar kits to over 15,000 families and aims to complete the provision to all 275,000 households by June 2027.
