The Sindh government has decided to introduce a facial recognition attendance system in the Education Department as part of efforts to improve oversight of its workforce.
The move comes alongside planned action against employees who remain absent from duty and those suspected of possessing fake academic degrees.
According to Education Department sources, around 15,000 teaching and non-teaching employees have applied for early retirement, creating administrative and financial challenges for the Finance Division.
Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched a verification process for the academic degrees of employees recruited by the Sindh Education Department between 1989 and 2020.
