The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two passengers, including a woman, at Multan International Airport for allegedly being part of a human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation network operating under the guise of Umrah travel.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the two passengers were stopped during immigration clearance after officials noticed suspicious activity while they were preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia on Umrah visas.
During questioning, officials examined their mobile phones, chats and other digital material and allegedly found evidence linked to commercial sexual exploitation. Investigators also obtained information about an alleged organized network involved in the exploitation of individuals.
Preliminary investigations suggested that an agent had arranged the passengers’ travel to Saudi Arabia using Umrah visas. The FIA suspects that the passengers were allegedly being sent to the country with the intention of subjecting them to commercial sexual exploitation.
The agency seized the passengers’ mobile phones and other relevant material for further investigation. The two suspects, along with the recovered digital evidence, were handed over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Multan for further legal proceedings.
The FIA has expanded its investigation to identify other individuals allegedly involved in the suspected network and said legal action will be taken against all elements found responsible for human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.
