Russia has introduced a new multiple-entry talent visa for eligible foreign nationals, offering highly skilled individuals a streamlined pathway to residence in the country.
The visa is open to highly skilled talent, including people working in scientific, creative and sporting fields. Graduates of top universities, professionals with rare skills, and entrepreneurs who can make a significant contribution to Russia’s technological development may also qualify.
Applications will first be assessed by the newly established Agency for Attracting Foreign Talents to Russia. Approved applications will then move through the country’s standard immigration authorities for further processing.
The visa also provides holders with easier access to temporary residence. Eligible visa holders may apply for a temporary residence permit (TRP) without being subject to the usual quota. They are also exempt from Russian language requirements that would normally apply at this stage.
Those who complete the Russian language test may receive an even faster route to permanent residence. Instead of first obtaining a TRP, they may apply directly for a permanent residence permit (PRP).
Under the standard process, applicants would normally be required to hold a TRP for at least eight months before becoming eligible to apply for permanent residence.
Talent visa holders may also qualify for a simplified pathway to Russian citizenship. Eligibility will depend on individual circumstances, exceptional merits, or support from relevant government bodies.
