The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has warned citizens to stay alert against fake e-challans and fraudulent SMS messages being used to steal personal and financial information.

In its latest public awareness campaign, the authority said cybercriminals are trying to trap people through fake links and bogus websites posing as official e-challan platforms.

PSCA urged citizens not to click on suspicious links and not to share their one-time password (OTP) or any other personal information with anyone.

The authority clarified that genuine e-challans are sent only through short code 9915. It also advised the public not to make payments through unknown or unverified websites.

According to PSCA, e-challan verification and payment should only be made through official channels, including the ePay Punjab app and the government’s official website.

Citizens have also been advised to immediately report suspicious messages or fraud attempts to the FIA Cyber Crime Wing, Police Helpline 15, or other relevant authorities.

The warning comes as online fraud cases continue to rise, with scammers increasingly using fake government-style messages to trick users into sharing sensitive information or making payments on fraudulent portals.
