Punjab Sports Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar has directed officials to prepare detailed proposals on fee structures and staff shortages at sports complexes across all tehsils of Rawalpindi Division.

The directions were issued during his visit to the Tehsil Sports Complex Dhobi Ghat in Murree, where he reviewed the available facilities, administrative matters, and existing infrastructure.

During the visit, officials briefed the minister on ongoing sports activities, operational requirements, and the condition of facilities at the complex. Khokhar inspected different sections of the complex and issued instructions for immediate improvements.

He directed the concerned authorities to repair all non-functional and damaged lights at sports complexes to ensure a suitable environment for athletes. He also ordered the immediate repair or replacement of the damaged basketball ring and the affected glass panel of the swimming pool at the Murree complex.

The minister said the maintenance of sports facilities in a fully functional condition is the responsibility of the department and must remain a priority. He added that the concerned contractor would complete the repair work within the stipulated timeframe, after which the Project Management Unit would submit a detailed compliance report.

Taking notice of missing facilities, Khokhar instructed officials to include spectator shades, practice cricket pitches, GI fencing, and other required amenities in the development plan and begin the process for their provision.

He said modern sports infrastructure is essential for promoting healthy activities and helping young athletes develop their talent. He added that the Punjab government is taking measures to modernize the sports sector and improve the management of facilities across the province.

Khokhar also said sports complexes would gradually be shifted toward a sustainable and self-sustaining operational model to ensure better maintenance, continuous improvement, and efficient management of operational expenses.

Announcing another step for Murree, the minister said the appointment of a Tehsil Sports Officer for the area would be processed on priority to strengthen local sports administration and facilitate athletes.

He said the Punjab government, under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is committed to reviving sports grounds across the province, engaging youth in positive activities, and providing high-quality sports facilities.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting sports at every level and creating more opportunities for young athletes to compete at national and international platforms.
