Punjab Police in Layyah have arrested a suspect linked to a gang accused of sexually exploiting and blackmailing female students associated with an e-commerce training institute.
According to police, District Police Officer Hassan Javed Bhatti took notice of the case and directed City Police to take immediate action. Following the orders, police arrested a suspect identified as Mudassar and registered a case.
Police sources said the gang allegedly targeted female students by luring them with promises of jobs, marriage, and a better lifestyle. The suspects are accused of recording objectionable videos and using them to blackmail the victims.
During initial interrogation, the arrested suspect allegedly admitted involvement in the scheme. Police said audio and video material was recovered from his mobile phone and sent to a forensic lab for further analysis.
Bhatti said the investigation would move forward in light of the forensic report and would be conducted on merit. He added that raids are being carried out to arrest the remaining suspects.
The DPO said all those involved in the case would face strict legal action and be brought to justice. He also said protecting women remains a top priority.
