The Punjab Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHC&MED) has imposed a ban on assigning nursing staff to general duty, directing all institutions to ensure that nurses are not deployed away from their original posts.
According to an official letter, the practice of assigning nurses to general duty was affecting the delivery of healthcare services. In response, the department has instructed that nursing staff must perform duties only on the posts for which they are paid.
The letter has been sent to the Director General of Nursing, medical superintendents of teaching hospitals, and principals of nursing colleges. All institutions have been directed to strictly implement the instructions.
Officials said the decision aims to improve nursing services in hospitals and ensure the provision of quality treatment to patients.
