The Government of Punjab has disbursed more than Rs191 billion in interest-free loans to support low-income families in building their own homes.

According to Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin, a total of 135,410 families have so far received financial assistance under the housing initiative, while the construction of over 91,000 houses has been completed.

He added that around 42,000 additional homes currently under construction are expected to be completed خلال the ongoing fiscal year.

The progress has been achieved under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Program, which aims to provide affordable housing opportunities to low-income segments of society.

The update came during a meeting between the minister and Sikandar Zeeshan, Director General of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency, who briefed him on the program’s progress.

Officials said more than 12,000 additional families will soon receive interest-free loans. They also noted that over Rs10 billion has been recovered in monthly instalments, reflecting the program’s implementation and financial discipline.

Authorities further revealed that more than 1.17 million applications have been submitted by individuals seeking to benefit from the scheme, highlighting strong public demand for affordable housing.
