Pakistan men’s national football team will return to international action next month at the Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament in the Maldives, after its participation in the four-nation event was confirmed earlier.
The four-nation event will be held from June 1 to 10 in Male, Maldives, with all matches scheduled at the National Football Stadium. The tournament will feature Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s opening match will be against Bangladesh on June 1 at 4:00 p.m. The Green Shirts will return to action on June 4, when they will face hosts Maldives at 4:00 p.m.
Pakistan will then complete its group-stage fixtures with a match against Afghanistan on June 7 at 4:00 p.m.
The tournament gives Pakistan an important opportunity to return to international action and test itself against regional opposition. It also provides the coaching staff a chance to assess squad depth and work on tactical combinations ahead of future South Asian assignments.
Pakistan enters the tournament after a challenging AFC Asian Cup qualifying campaign. The team ended that campaign with a 2-1 win over Myanmar at Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad, giving the side a positive result before its next international outing.
The Maldives tournament now offers Pakistan another platform to build momentum and continue its development at the international level.
