Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara has successfully summited Mount Makalu, the world’s fifth-highest mountain at 8,485 meters, in Nepal.

“Alhamdulillah, I’ve summited Makalu, the 5th highest mountain in the world,” Sadpara said in a social media post. “My 10th 8000ers.”

Sadpara reached the summit early Saturday, 2 May, at around 5:00 a.m., according to his announcement. A team of three climbers, including Sadpara, along with seven sherpas, completed the ascent of the technically demanding peak.

The expedition was organized by Seven Summit Treks, which confirmed the successful climb and wished the team a safe and smooth descent back to base camp.

Makalu is located in the Mahalangur Himalayas, about 19 kilometers southeast of Mount Everest, along the China–Nepal border. The climb is considered one of the most technically challenging among the world’s highest peaks.

Sadpara is the son of legendary Pakistani climber Muhammad Ali Sadpara, who died while attempting to summit K2 in February 2021. This latest achievement marks the 10th successful summit in Sadpara’s mission to climb all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP), led by President Maj. Gen. (retd.) Irfan Arshad, extended heartfelt congratulations, calling the achievement a moment of great pride for the nation.

The ACP noted that summiting one of the world’s most technically challenging peaks reflects Sadpara’s courage, determination, and exceptional mountaineering skill. “This outstanding achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for the entire Pakistani mountaineering community,” the club said in a statement.

The ACP president also praised Sadpara’s perseverance and dedication, adding that his accomplishment would inspire young climbers across Pakistan and further strengthen the country’s presence on the global mountaineering stage.

Sadpara has previously summited Mount Everest, K2, Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum II, and Dhaulagiri.
