A young founder from Pakistan managed to secure a free one-year domain renewal after cold emailing GoDaddy’s CEO when he could not afford the $60 fee.

According to the story shared by the founder, he came across a well-known cold email example, reworked it for his own situation, and sent it to the company’s top executive in the hope of getting help.

It worked.

A screenshot shared by the founder shows an email from GoDaddy’s Office of the CEO confirming that his message had been reviewed and that the domain had been renewed for an additional year as a one-time courtesy. The email also advised him to keep a valid payment method on file and ensure auto-renewal was enabled before the next renewal date.

The case has drawn attention online not just because the request succeeded, but because of how simply it was made: a teenager, a financial problem, and one carefully written email.

The founder says he had rewritten a cold email template he had seen earlier and tailored it to his own circumstances. That message, he claims, helped him save his project at a critical stage.
